Preparation of a declaration of compliance for food contact material
Section outline
-
This tool will help you to make the declaration of compliance required by Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 for the food contact material you manufacture or import.
This tool will instruct you on how to prepare the declaration of compliance so that it contains adequate information as regards safety and compliance.
-
The Declaration of Compliance is a document that you must:
- provide to the customer (another food contact material operator or a food business operator) at all stages of trade;
- prepare again whenever there are changes in the raw materials, manufacturing process, or legislation concerning the food contact material, and in any case at least every three years.
With the Declaration of Compliance, you can:
- demonstrate to the customer the safety and other compliance of the food contact material;
- guide the customer in the correct use of the contact material.
Further information on the Declaration of Compliance can be found on the Finnish Food Authority’s website.
-
Save the Word template for the Declaration of Compliance on your computer.
Remember to also save any changes you make. This way, you can later edit the Declaration of Compliance you have prepared if the information changes, and you will not need to create the entire Declaration of Compliance from scratch.
-
If the material or article contains recycled plastic, you must also use the forms in Annex III of the Recycled Plastic Regulation (EU) 1616/2022 to declare compliance.
You can find the forms via the link above by selecting the consolidated text of the Regulation (if it did not open directly from the link) and then choosing the Finnish version of the Regulation.
The forms are also available below in Word format. These ready-made templates can be used at your own responsibility; always make sure to check the form’s validity against the Recycled Plastic Regulation.
